How it works

The aim of the shoot is to get one or two really good shots that you are happy with that you can post as your mug shot. There are of course no guarantees, but typically you should be happy with anywhere between 1 and 10 shots (perhaps more.

Dress

We advise dressing as well as possible but of course this depends on what the shoot is for. If the picture is for a dating site, then a paint-covered T-shirt and falling-apart shoes perhaps isn’t the best dress choice. It’s also a good idea to bring a change of clothing, perhaps a couple of more tops, this way you can change into a different outfit for the outdoor shots or if you discover a stain in your shirt then you have another option.

Hair

Brush it, comb it, straighten it, cut it if necessary! Hair is really important. Design how you want it to look before the shoot. If you sometimes wear you hair up or down, then decide with a friend what you prefer. It isn’t a problem to put your hair down after it has been up, but the other way round might be harder, particular during an outdoor shoot.

Make-up

Okay, getting guys to wear lipstick is perhaps pushing it a little, but nevertheless cover those zits! Women, lipstick, foundation, mascara etc! put on that makeup, you will need to put on a bit more than you usually do. Remember under bright light (flashes and sun) your features will flatten. Bring with you touch-up so that during the shoot you can add during the shoot as necessary.

Accessories

Very important. Bring with you some accessories. Obviously choose what works for you best. Make sure to bring at least two items. Examples include: handbag, fan, sunglasses, jumper/cardigan/jacket to swing over shoulder, scarf, football, baseball bat etc. If the portraits are of kids, then favourite toys are useful both in capturing the child in their element and of course making the child feel comfortable.

What do you get

Once the shoot is over, the images will be made into webres for internet use and uploaded onto the website so you can choose the pictures that you like. We will then re-upload the images into a gallery with just the images that you have chosen. We will then burn a CD with the high resolution pictures (for developing) and web resolution images (for e-mail and websites) and supply you with that.

Typically around 200 pictures will be taken during your shoot. It is expected that about 50 or so will have to be thrown out, but you should have around 150 pictures to choose from. You can choose all of them or just one – it’s up to you.

Developing

All the pictures that you choose can be taken into any photo shop that does digital development (most, if not all, do). For your convenience, we can take care of this for you and have it delivered to your home.**
